Packing Tips For Your House Move

There are very few things as stressful as moving house, and with so preparation and planning to do, it’s easy to fall into the trap of hasty and unorganised packing. If you want to ensure that you’ve packed your home properly, and if you want to make the unpacking process much easier for you and your family then the following tips can help you!1)    Have the right materials. The right materials will keep even the most fragile items safe during transit on moving day, so it’s worth taking the time to find the ideal solutions. Bubble wrap, newspapers and foam packing peanuts can all be sourced pretty cheaply, and second-hand boxes make great moving boxes – as long as they’ve been reinforced! You can also use items from around your home to help you with packing, such as old boxes, towels or bedding for padding, and suitcases to move clothes.2)    What to buy.If you don’t already have thick marker pens then now is the time to invest. You’re going to want to label each and every box that you pack clearly and succinctly, and having a marker pen will make that much easier. It’s also a good idea to invest in coloured stickers, so that you can colour-code your boxes by room. If you’re moving a lot of your items in bags, refuge sacks or by using other similar methods then try investing in coloured string, so that you can tie the bags and know which room they’ve come from.3)    Create a packing plan.Once you have the supplies you need it’s time to sit down and create a packing plan. Write down the rooms you want to pack first, which items need to be saved for last, and the timeframe that you have to work in. Start with the least-used rooms of your home, before moving onto more popular places. Ensure that you’re leaving any essential items to be packed the night before you move, so that you won’t have to rip open every box to find what it is you’ve been looking for!4)    Labelling your boxes.Labelling your boxes is an important way to ensure that everything can be easily found and unpacked without any problems. Don’t just label your boxes with the room that they came from – try labelling them with a number, in order of important too! Your dinner plates are more important that your blender or other appliances, so make sure that your boxes clearly state this. This will help you to know where to begin once you start unpacking, and you won’t have to struggle to find the items that you really need.5)    Packing an essentials bag.Pack a bag of essentials for your moving day so that you have easy access to your most important items. Think about including snacks, drinks, your phone charger, medication, toilet paper, moving documentation and anything else that you might need on the day!6)    Hiring a removal company.Removal companies can help you on moving day, but did you know that many offer packing services too? Professional packing help can be very useful, especially if you have a busy schedule or if you’re a person who hates packing! Removal services such as these can save you a lot of time, effort and stress, so it’s worth looking into if you feel as though it could benefit you and your home.
